About the Program
Global Environment Facility (GEF) has been established with the main objective of combating global environmental problems and supporting the implementation of these conventions in countries that are parties to the United Nations Conventions on Biological Diversity and Climate Change.
The implementing agencies of the GEF are the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme. Based on the fact that global environmental problems can only be solved with the participation of local people, GEF/SGP supports projects that encourage local conservation efforts and sustainable use.
Priority Areas
GEF / SGP supports projects developed in the areas of biodiversity conservation, combating climate change, soil degradation, and sustainable forest management.
About Application
National and local civil society organizations can submit a project proposal to the GEF Small Grants Programme. There is no limitation for project partners and collaborations. Public, private sector universities, and even individuals can play these roles.
GEF Small Grants Programme can provide support to 3 types of activities or projects in Turkey:
- Implementation Projects Support (limited to 50,000 USD)
- Meeting/Workshop or Publication Support (limited to 10,000 USD)Project Development Support (5,000 USD)
