The "Turkey Asylum and Asylum Monitoring Report", prepared by the Human Rights Research Association (İHAD), based on the developments in the field of asylum law in Turkey throughout 2010, has been published.
While it is noted in the report that there are deep gaps between the national legislation and international standards in the field of asylum, it is emphasized that there have been positive developments in recent years in updating the asylum law in Turkey and overcoming the existing legal problems, but these studies are not yet at the desired level.
In the report, which emphasizes that the difficulties irregular migrants face in the context of basic human rights law are still current in 2010, the report states that Turkey's protection of refugees and asylum-seekers has reached a much higher level since the enforcement of the new law, which has been under preparation for two years, in which the asylum law is considered the most important legal regulation in the field of asylum law.
