Kaos GL's 2013 Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity-based Human Rights Monitoring Report has been published. The report shares the media coverage among the rights violations that LGBTs have suffered due to their sexual orientation and gender identity throughout 2013.
According to the report, “Reflected in the media throughout 2013; There were 4 hate murders, 1 rape, 10 hate attacks (two with firearms, two with sharp objects), 1 lynching attempt, 1 arson, 1 kidnapping. In addition, the doors of 15 transgender houses were smashed and detained in a police operation in Istanbul.”
In the report, it is stated that the lack of any regulation regarding hate crimes in 2013 resulted in the fact that the 'prejudice motive' in cases reflected in the judiciary was not investigated during both the investigation and the prosecution.
