In the four-day training, which we organised as part of our Freedom of Association Monitoring Project, supported by the European Union and implemented together with TUSEV, we discussed freedom of association in national and international legislation, advocacy, campaigning, lobbying techniques, participation of CSOs in law drafting processes, mechanisms of participation in local and central administration.
Freedom of association in national and international legislation was explained by Dr Ulaş Karan from Bilgi University Faculty of Law, while Hakan Ataman explained advocacy methods.
While İkbal Polat, one of the founders of the Urban Strategies and Local Practices Association, talked about local participation mechanisms, Prof. Dr. Fahri Bakırcı, a faculty member of TOBB ETÜ University, talked about the participation of CSOs in the law-making process. Güneş Engün and Duygu Doğan from TUSEV also provided information on CSO participation in legislative processes.
The first session of the four-day training was held on 21-22 October 2022, and the second session was held on 4-5 November 2022.
