The İncEle Sub-Grant Program aims to support the dissemination, development and improvement of monitoring and best practices of journalism in the fight against hate speech in the media, online hate speech, discriminatory speech and fake news. The grant program supports projects that combat the potential negative effects of hate speech and disinformation and whose goals contribute to building social peace.
Under the Subgrant Program, which will last a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 9 months:
50,000 euros in total grants will be awarded to 10 different civil society organizations in Turkey. The maximum support per project will be 5,000 euros.
The main objectives of the İncEle Sub-Grant Program focus on three themes:
By promoting cooperation between civil society organizations operating in the field of hate speech, fake news and/or investigative and good journalism, local journalists and independent content producers, taking into account the intersection of freedom of expression and thought through joint projects to be developed at the local level, access to accurate information, verification and aims to contribute to the right to receive information.
Theme 1 Investigate - Monitor: Raise public awareness of the importance of combating discrimination and hate speech, the dangers of hate speech and discrimination against vulnerable groups or minorities, and the development of monitoring and research strategies that develop narratives against discrimination and racism.
Theme 2 Investigate - Prevent: support projects on best practices of journalism to prevent disinformation and fake news by civil society organizations.
Theme 3 Investigate - Participate: Enhance opportunities for cooperation by supporting CSOs, journalists, and independent content producers, especially in the context of hate speech and discrimination online. Promote cooperation among civil society organizations, independent journalists, alternative media, and new media organizations to protect freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
Who can apply for the İncEle Subgrant program?
Civil society organizations based in Turkey and having legal personality (associations, foundations, non-profit cooperatives, professional chambers, social enterprises, platforms)
The entity applying for a grant may submit a joint application with another entity that meets the same conditions.
Important note: Starting July 13, 2023, applications can be submitted through the SAHNE Community Portal. For this reason, it is recommended to follow the grant application guide and other details via social media and announcements on the SAHNE website.
