are looking for new narrators for our Empowerment Stories gatherings.
We live in a world of stories in the civil sector, and telling these stories creates a strong bond among us. We are in pursuit of these 'empowering' stories and want to reach storytellers who want to share their experiences firsthand.
In the Empowerment Stories project, we offer participants the opportunity for a process-oriented preparation to articulate their own stories in a more powerful way. In this context, we will organize a two-stage storytelling workshop. In these workshops, we aim to contribute to participants telling their stories more powerfully and effectively with the techniques of oral storytelling. At the end of the process, storytellers will present their own 'empowering' stories on stage to the audience.
What Are Empowerment Stories Gatherings?
Empowerment Stories are the gatherings where we tell and listen to our own stories. We, as civil society workers, volunteers, and enthusiasts, come together for storytelling.
In the civil field, we all believe in the importance of serving a greater purpose than our individual concerns. The problems we care about bring us together, and our collective action turns into a healing power. However, to make the change, we all know that we have to face many challenges.
- How do we find this struggle power?
- Which of our experiences creates this power within us?
- When we reach the limits of this power, who do we receive support from?
Empowerment Stories gatherings emerged with questions like these. The story of our struggle weaves through other 'empowerment' stories happening right next to us, meeting, talking, and merging with them. Therefore, all stories become our story.
Working on these existing stories by practicing the technical aspects of storytelling empowers the narrator with significant 'strength.' Because stories have a unique power to speak to people's hearts. In "Empowerment Stories," we listen to real stories born in different realms of civil society, think together with the storytellers, and discuss how we can progress together on the challenging paths of change.
How Will the Workshop Proceed?
Empowerment Stories offer narrators the opportunity for a process-oriented preparation to articulate their own stories more powerfully. In this context, we will initially organize a two-stage storytelling workshop in Ankara.
In these workshops, we aim to contribute to participants telling their stories more powerfully and effectively with the techniques of oral storytelling. Participants will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other storytellers during the process. At the end, they will present their own stories on stage to the audience.
Who Is Empowerment Stories For?
Anyone within civil society who is interested in the art of storytelling, open to expressing their emotions and thoughts through stories, and willing to work with different communities, can participate. Those who can activate their creativity and imagination in the face of the challenges we experience are welcome.
