335 of the 600 deputies who will compete in the new legislature are in parliament for the first time. As in previous legislatures, the professional profile of the Parliament in the new term consisted of lawyers, doctors and engineers. Of the deputies in the 28th legislative term, 119 are lawyers, 62 engineers, 50 businessmen, 32 managers, 31 doctors and 30 academics.
In the elections with the highest turnout in recent years, with a rate of almost 89%, in the May 14, 2023 elections, the AK Party with 35.6%, the Republican People's Party with 25.3%, the Nationalist Movement Party with 10%, the IYI Party with 9.6% and while the Green and Left Party was the with 8.82, there were 17 political parties whose votes could not reach more than 1%.
In the 28th parliamentary term, there will be 121 female deputies in the parliament
After the May 14 elections, the distribution of female deputies increased slightly compared to the previous term. In the new parliament there will be 479 male and 121 female deputies.
At the end of the previous period, the number of female deputies was 100 and the number of male deputies was 477. Thus, the quota of women in parliament, which was 17.1% in the previous term, has increased to 20.1% in the new term.
Most female deputies entered parliament from the Green Left Party, followed by the AK Party, the CHP, the IYI Party and the MHP. In the new legislature, 50 women from the AK party, 30 from the CHP and Green Left parties, 6 from the IYI party, 4 from the MHP and 1 from the Workers' Party of Turkey will sit in parliament.
Youth and Re-electeds
According to the results of the 28th parliamentary term elections, 335 of the 600 deputies are entering parliament for the first time. 46 people who were not deputies in the previous term but were elected in the last term become deputies again.
Accordingly, 63.5% of deputies were newly elected in the 28th legislative term. Of the 335 deputies who will sit in the chair for the first time in this legislature, 148 are from the AK party, 90 from the CHP, 47 from the Green Left Party, 27 from the IYI Party, 18 from the MHP, 4 from the New Welfare Party(Yeniden Refah) and 1 from the Workers' Party of Turkey.
