At the Istanbul meeting, the results of the Monitoring Matrix on Enabling Environment for Civil Society 2020-2021 Turkey Report prepared by TUSEV and our report on Civil Society Organizations in Turkey: Freedom of Association and the Right to Participate were shared.
For the Monitoring Matrix on Enabling Environment for Civil Society 2020-2021 Turkey Report prepared by TUSEV, a comprehensive study based on desk and field research was conducted to determine the current situation regarding the legal and financial legislation and practice concerning associations and foundations.
In the report on Civil Society Organizations in Turkey: Freedom of Association and the Right to Participate, in addition to field research, information obtained directly from CSOs, which are the main subjects of the right to freedom of association and the right to participate in decision-making processes, as well as lawyers involved in legal proceedings, and court decisions were examined. In the report, desk research was also conducted using official reports, data published as open sources by public institutions and organizations, CSO reports, and news articles as secondary data.
Within the scope of the research, 1003 questionnaires were administered to 800 associations and 203 foundations. Furthermore, 2 focus group discussions and 48 in-depth interviews were conducted as part of the field research.
