UN Women (UN Women) will organise “Gender, Climate Change and Disasters: Civil Society Training” in Izmir from 10-12 June 2024 as part of the “Strong Civic Space for Gender Equality” project.
The training will provide guidance on the international framework and national legislation on climate change and disaster risk reduction from a gender perspective. It will also discuss the integration of a gender perspective into the institutional functioning and activities of civil society organisations in relation to climate change and disaster risk, as well as methods for civil society organisations to participate in advocacy and monitoring processes.
Civil society organisations wishing to participate in the training must complete the application form by 28 May 2024, 17:00. Information on the results of the application will be sent by e-mail on 1 June 2024.
Criteria for the application
- Women's civil society organisations or civil society organisations working in the field of gender equality, civil society organisations working under the leadership of young people or in the field of youth or working in the fields of climate change and environmental protection are eligible to apply
- The training programme is aimed at rights-based civil society organisations carrying out advocacy activities at local and national level.
- Except in exceptional cases, 1 representative per organisation will be admitted to participate.
- The representative of the civil society organisation that will participate in the training must complete the application form and provide information on the potential contribution of the study to the civil society organisation.
- Experience with local or national policy-making processes, monitoring and evaluation or the intention to participate in decision-making processes or influence public policy will be favoured.
Information on the evaluation of applications
- In order to ensure an effective and efficient training programme, the number of participants is limited to 30.
- The following criteria will be considered in the evaluation: The applicant representative must be from the civil society organisations whose areas of activity are listed above.
- The application form must be completed in full 1 person from a civil society organisation has applied.
- The purpose of the application must be compatible with the purpose of the training programme, thematic distribution, and gender balance.
- Experience in agenda setting in relation to participation, monitoring and evaluation or with the intention of participating in decision-making processes or influencing public policy (to be indicated in the purpose of participation in the training) No changes of participants will be accepted after the evaluation, except in exceptional cases.
- If your application is accepted, you must receive an “assignment letter" ” from the management structure of the organisation you represent, in which they agree to your participation in the entire programme on behalf of your organisation.
