About the workshop:
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) makes recommendations to Turkey on anti-money laundering (KPA) and countering the financing of terrorism (TF) as part of its regular audits and assessments in member countries. The FATF calls on Turkey to implement regulations on this issue in a way that does not affect the activities of civil society organizations (CSOs).
With the enactment of Law No. 7262 on December 31, 2020, regulations were made on issues such as association law and fundraising, and a risk analysis was introduced for association audits. In meetings held after the sweeping changes, CSOs shared their views on the impact of the regulations on the civil sector, and it became apparent that there was a need for information and discussion on these topics.
The EU Global Facility, which supports public administration and civil society in many countries in the fight against KPA and TF, organizes trainings for public institutions in Turkey. A three-day workshop with civil society is planned in partnership with TUSEV. The workshop, "Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Regulations and Civil Society," will cover national and international regulations to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, their impact on civil society, examples of best practices from other countries, and the role of civil society organizations as active players in defining national strategy.
About the EU Global Facility:
The EU Global Facility (GF-AML /CFT) was established by the European Commission in 2019 to support countries seeking to strengthen their systems to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. To date, it has provided technical assistance to various actors, particularly public entities, in many countries.
