Affected by the 6 February Earthquakes and established by civil society organizations working in the disaster zone, the Turkey Local CSO Humanitarian Forum (TİF) will organize the Local Good Practices Workshop, where local actors will share their experiences of struggle and discuss what the organizations want to do next.
On the first day of the two-day program, participants will share exemplary local initiatives and projects that can be considered successful. On the second day, common themes, needs, future opportunities, and potential collaborations in the initiatives will be discussed. Other civil society actors working in the field of earthquakes can also attend the second day's program as listeners.
During the two-day workshop, transportation and accommodation expenses of the participants who will come from outside the province and share their good practices on the first day will be covered. Those who have good practices or projects can submit their applications via the application form until January 3, 2024.
Application criteria for participation in the workshop
- Engaged in earthquake-related work in the provinces of Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya
- Emerging locally-led or growing with the participation of disaster-affected, local communities
- Protect human rights and ethical values while working in accordance with local culture and conditions,
- Expanding local capacity by establishing collaborations,
- Capacity building through its work, including access to international funding and grants,
- Investigating their work, organizational capacity and the aspects of their team that need improvement,
- Those that have a sustainable impact, that continue to grow stronger after they are established, or whose impact lasts,
- Carrying out activities that contribute positively to social, economic and cultural development (meeting basic needs, empowerment work or any work that contributes to the local community)
- If you think you are an initiative/CSO that has at least one of the characteristics of being innovative, inspiring or replicable, you can fill out the application form.
Applications will be evaluated on the following topics in the community's/civil society organization's earthquake-related work/project. After the application, TİF Secretariat will request a more detailed interview.

What is expected of those whose application will be included in the workshop?
If the applicant takes part in the workshop, they are expected to prepare for the workshop by being in constant contact with the TİF secretariat. In this process, the TİF representative in the province will support the applicant. In this process, the following processes will await the applicant as a community/CSO.
- Preparing a poster to present at the worksho
- Preparing a promotional text to be included in the workshop brochure
- Contributing to the announcement and dissemination of the workshop
- Check in on January 20, Saturday evening and fully participate in the workshop program on January 21-22
About TİF
Turkey Local CSO Humanitarian Forum (TİF) was established in the immediate aftermath of the February 6 earthquakes to strengthen the participation of local and national civil society organizations in United Nations (UN)-led earthquake coordination. TİF, whose secretariat is run by the Support to Life Association (Hayata Destek Derneği) and Civil Society Development Center (STGM: Sivil Toplum Geliştirme Merkezi), brings together 73 local and national CSOs working in different sectors of humanitarian assistance and becomes their voice and supporter through face-to-face meetings, online events, trainings and provincial representatives.
