Training Camp for Young Journalists Applications Started

Within the scope of the “Strengthening Quality Journalism in Western Balkans and Türkiye” project, partnered by Association of Journalists (AoJ), 10 young will be able to participate “investigative journalism training”.

Journalists under the age of 35 from Türkiye and Western Balkans will be able to apply for the Training Camp. Training Camp will be held at Bizim Çatı Hotel in Ankara, Gölbaşı between 27-31 May 2024.

Training camp applications has opened today, on  1 April 2024 and will continue until 30 April 2024.

Experienced journalists and experts will be in charge at the Training Camp. Training Camp will be based on the basics of investigative journalism, ethics and principles of practice. There will be theoretical training and workshops on data journalism and the use of new technologies in journalism.

The language of instruction will be in Turkish. For journalists from the Western Balkans, the training will be conducted via zoom and translation via zoom will be available.

Journalists who complete the training camp will be eligible to implement their micro-projects. Micro projects will be consist of 3 orginal news content and will be granted up to €1.000 (one thousand euros) per participant.

Micro projects will be completed and submitted within a maximum of 3 months.

Conditions of Parcipation

The applicant who is entitled to participate in the training and thus receive support for micro-projects must meet the following conditions:

  •  Journalists from Türkiye or the Western Balkans
  • To be under 35 years of age
  • Being a Journalism / Communication graduate (priority group) or having been worked as a journalist for at least two years (priority group)
  • Being a freelance journalist
  • Being a journalist working in any organization.
  • Women applicants will be prioritized.
  • To be able to apply, meeting the basic criteria will be a prerequisite. After filling out the form, applicants are required to upload their updated CVs and letters of intent to the corresponding boxes in the application form.
  • In addition, applicants are obliged to indicate 4 original news ideas for micro-project support. Applicants will be responsible for developing 3 of their 4 original news ideas into news stories.
  • Applicants are obliged to indicate in the application form on which platforms they intend to publish these 3 news.
