Participants aged between 20 and 30 are expected to apply for the second term of the project, which aims to discuss current memory studies and struggles in the world and Turkey with the younger generation and to produce genuine memorial works with them.
The project invites its participants to seek creative expression forms of social memory together in an environment where critical and free ideas are suppressed. This invitation; focuses on the reflections of the suppressed and silenced past about different places, times, and communities to the present, the traces left by the next generations, and different ways of being remembered.
Travel, accommodation, and food expenses will be covered for all activities organized within the scope of the project, and research scholarships will be given to the participants to support the projects they will produce.
When?
The project, which will last for 18 months, will take place between June 2022 and December 2023. During this period, five face-to-face workshops and two field visits are planned. The memorialization projects to be produced by the participants are expected to be completed by the end of October 2023.
What is expected?
Participants are expected to allocate the necessary energy and time to produce their projects and to actively participate in the collective idea generation process during the workshops organized within the scope of this long-term program spanning 18 months. All workshops are designed in relation to each other as parts of the project process and require regular participation.
Who can apply?
Applications are expected from young people associated with the field of social memory through different disciplines such as history, sociology, architecture, law, fine arts, or civil society and who have certain knowledge and experience in this field. However, this call is also open to applications from young people who have a personal interest, curiosity, and effort in the field of memorialization.
Priority will be given to memorialization project applications regarding the themes of the workshops such as gross human rights violations, racism, gender, and ecological destruction.
Candidates are expected to,
- Be between the ages of 20 and 30,
- Be interested in developments in Turkey and the world,
- Have willingness to question what they know,
- Be able to adapt to collective and creative production processes,
- Have the ability to present different perspectives on issues throughout the project and,
- Have the motivation to enrich the discussions with what they bring from their subjective and social experiences.
