Purposes and the Way of Work
With the aim of increasing the quality of life of autistic individuals and their families, WAO works to create an environment where autistic individuals and their families can have their voices heard by coordinating information, communication and cooperation between non-governmental organizations, government agencies and professional groups working for the same purpose, increasing the awareness of autistic individuals about themselves and strengthening their families, by fighting about the rights of autistic individuals, providing them with education, employment and life support, informing the public about autism, providing research and information support to professional groups working on the subject, and finally bringing together organizations that carry out activities on this subject.
WAO carries out joint projects with institutions such as the World Health Organization, UNESCO, government structures and NGOs on research, public information, advocacy, policy development and implementation on the rights of autistic individuals.

WAO has three membership categories: full membership, individual membership and affiliate membership.
