Women for Water Partnership (WfWfW)

Women for Water Partnership (WfWfW) is a strategic and active union of existing local, national and international women's organizations and networks that carry out active and highly effective activities in the context of sustainable development-water-poverty-gender. The partnership was created during the 12th Meeting of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development in April 2004. As of 2017, WfWfW is in cooperation with 27 organizations in 134 countries.

Purposes and the Way of Work

The main purpose of the WfWfW partnership is to improve water management practices by making the universally determined principles of sustainable water management into daily practices.

Membership Criteria

Since 1 March 2004, the Women for Water database has been online. The database contains information about current activities and initiatives. In this way, a tool is created to link supply and demand within a community-based IWRM.

By participating in the partnership, the current trend on the issue can be followed and joint steps can be taken in cooperation with women's organizations, local governments and private sector representatives working towards an equitable sustainable development.
