Founded in 1996 and headquartered in New York, GYAN is a youth organization that combines the efforts of young people working to improve the world. The network connects thousands of organizations in more than 200 countries. GYAN is affiliated with the UN Department of Public Information (UN-DPI). He has been given special advisory status by the UN Economic and Social Council.

Purposes and the Way of Work
GYAN works,
- To promote youth participation and intergenerational partnership in global decision making, to support cooperation between various youth organizations,
- To provide tools, resources and recognition opportunity for positive youth actions.
GYAN acts as an "incubator" for global partnerships and acts as a global information provider.
Membership Criteria
GYAN membership consists of members with and without have the right to vote, and executive members. Membership is open to all organizations at different levels that support young people and do not advocate in any way hate or violence.
