Purposes and the Way of Work
Founded in 1995, CRIN is a fully equipped global information network. The objectives of CRIN are summarized below:
- To meet the information needs of organizations and individuals working for the rights of children,
- To support and encourage the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,
- To support organizations in collecting, producing and disseminating information on children's rights through training, capacity building and the development of electronic / non-electronic networking tools.
Membership Criteria
CRIN has more than 1400 member organizations in more than 130 countries. Close to 85 percent of the members are non-governmental organizations, 65 percent are in Africa, Asia and Latin America. According to the CRIN membership policy, a member should:
- Support the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,
- Carry out activities for children's rights,
- Be open to sharing information.
Organizations that meet these criteria can join the network as organizational members and individuals as individual members. CRIN membership is free. CRIN is an open network for members, so it has no status other than organizational and individual membership.
