Needs Map and Neitin Cooperative Signed a Cooperation Protocol in Spain

Solidarity and Coordination Strengthens After the Flood Disaster in Spain After the flood disaster that affected the southern and eastern regions of Spain and caused great destruction, especially in Valencia, Needs Map, which continues its work in the field of disaster management and needs analysis, has taken an important step in the region. On December 17, 2024, a cooperation protocol was signed between Needs Map and Neitin Cooperative in Valencia.

A Strong Cooperation for Sustainable Development Goals The protocol aims to ensure equal opportunities, meet the needs in disadvantaged regions and develop innovative solutions in line with sustainable development goals .

Starting with projects related to disaster preparedness, the cooperation will support environmental, economic, social and cultural development effortsin a process spreading from Valencia to the whole of Spain. In this context, concrete solutions will be developed in areas such as education, health, gender equality, etc.

Dr. Ali Ercan Özgür, Co-Founder of Needs Map, said the following about the cooperation protocol:

Flood Map Neighborhood-Based Impact Analysis

Spain Flood Map, developed by Needs Map, combines geographic data and demographic analysis to reveal the effects of the disaster in detail. The platform uses building footprint data from OpenStreetMap and Esri Living Atlas neighborhood population data to analyze flood-affected areas on a neighborhood basis.

In this process, Ashoka Spain and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Madrid supported the work of Needs Map and emphasized the importance of social solidarity. The protocol signed between Needs Map and Neitin Cooperative aims to identify needs more effectively in disaster areas and to direct resources correctly.
