On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 19.00, Işıl Nur Kurnaz will discuss how strategic litigation can be used to achieve gender equality.
Işıl Kurnaz
Işıl Kurnaz graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Law. She received her master's degree in International Human Rights Law at Lund University with the Swedish Institute for Human Rights Scholarship awarded by the Swedish government in memory of Anna Lindh. She won the Halit Çelenk Law Award in 2018 for her thesis on “Collective Social Rights in Constitutions”. In 2024, she received the Şirin Tekeli Article Award for her work on women's participation in working life. She continues to work as a trainer and consultant for institutions such as the United Nations, International Children's Center, Amnesty International. She is currently a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Human Rights and Constitutional Law at Sant'Anna Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pisa in Italy. She writes regularly for Birikim magazine and is a member of the Women's Coalition.
