About the Organization
ILGA Europe works to protect and fulfill all rights of individuals, regardless of their actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity, gender expression, or sexual characteristics.
ILGA Europe is an independent international non-governmental organization gathering 490 organizations from 45 European countries. ILGA Europe, part of the International ILGA established in 1978, became an independent regional structure in 1996.
Priority Areas
ILGA Europe advocates for LGBTI people at the European level, in particular on refugees, hate crimes and hate speech, education, employment, family, association, freedom of expression and demonstration, health, legal recognition of gender identity and bodily integrity. It also works to strengthen the LGBTI movement with grants and capacity building supports.
About Application
ILGA Europe provides support through different mechanisms. The Documentation and Advocacy Fund supports activities aimed at documenting and monitoring human rights violations. This Program supports small and medium-sized projects (up to € 2,000) aimed at documenting incidents of discrimination, hate crime, or other human rights violations committed due to sexual orientation, gender identity or sexual expression.
Applications will be accepted from officially registered LGBTI organizations and entrepreneurial groups in countries where there are no registered LGBTI associations.
Creating Opportunities Program supports mobility and campaign activities. Within the scope of this Program, it is possible to support situations such as developing action against a threat or opportunity encountered at the national level, taking action in case of spreading between countries. Applications can be made to this flexible fund at any time.
ILGA Europe also supports regional projects through refinancing and provides emergency action funding for LGBTI rights defenders under attack or threat through membership in the Consortium of Honor for All.
