About the Program
The purpose of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives is to increase the economic, cultural, and social living standards of the local people by financing small-scale projects that provide technical, economic, cultural, and social development support.
Priority Areas
Protection of human rights and fundamental rights, combating early forced marriages and gender-based violence, strengthening the democratic participation of minorities, enhancing the rule of law, and economic governance.
About Application
The Canada Fund provides grants to Civil Society Organizations, community-based organizations and communities that are in line with the political goals of the Government of Canada and address their priority areas of work. An application call is published every year. All proposals should clearly state the impact of the project on gender equality and environmental sustainability. Priority is given to the organizations that have not previously benefited from funding. At the same time, organizations working in regions or sectors that are not funded by other institutions take priority.
Application documents are sent by email to the Embassy of Canada in Ankara. Proposals should contain a detailed budget listing all expenses. The project proposal format is available on the internet addresses. Fund calls are evaluated separately for each fiscal year, so the information on whether the applications are open or not should be followed on the website.
