Fundamental Rights and Resilience in Disasters: Civil Society and Media Cooperation Conference

Within the scope of the “Protection of Fundamental Freedoms in Post-Earthquake Turkey Project” jointly implemented by Freedom Studies Association (ÖAD) and Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), “Fundamental Rights and Resilience in Disasters: Civil Society and Media Cooperation Conference” will be organized in Istanbul on December 3, 2024.

The conference will discuss the role of civil society and local media in disaster preparedness and response in Turkey, a disaster country.

The conference will also share the field experiences of local media representatives and the findings of the “State of Local Media” report compiled by Dr. Ömer Faruk Şen based on interviews conducted by journalist Sibel Hürtaş in the earthquake zone.
The conference, which has a limited quota of 50 people from Istanbul and 30 people from outside the city, is open to applications from all over Turkey. Applicants from the earthquake region will be given priority.

Accommodation and travel expenses of out-of-town participants will be covered and approved participants will be contacted.
