What is Equality Data?

The definition of “equality data” refers to any information that is useful for describing and analyzing the state of equality. This information can be quantitative or qualitative. Its main focus is to generate equality statistics, which means aggregated data reflecting inequalities or their causes or effects in society. Sometimes data collected for other than equality-related purposes can also be used to produce equality data, for example the rent growth index or the rate of inflation (this definition is taken from the Equality Handbook).
