WWF-Turkey has published the Renewable Energy Future and Turkey Report. The Renewable Energy Future and Turkey Report published by WWF-Turkey reveals the steps to be taken in the transition to renewable energy with examples of good practice in the world. The report examining the obstacles to the widespread use of renewable energy sources in Turkey.
It aims to contribute to the efforts of Turkey to reach a clean energy future by focusing on legislation and technical infrastructure, incentive mechanisms and consumer habits.
The report addresses difficulties such as insufficient purchase guarantees, grid connection criteria, high cost of geothermal studies, difficulties in transferring from source to transformer, insufficient R&D funds and consumers' choice of electricity source. In the report, which shows examples of good practices from around the world in order to develop incentive mechanisms applied to increase the share of renewable energy, it is stated that the laws in Turkey should be arranged in a way that allows the effective use of resources other than hydroelectricity. WWF-Turkey underlines that nuclear energy, which has enormous economic, social and ecological costs, cannot be considered among the clean energy options.
