The Association for Monitoring Equal Rights (Eşit Haklar İçin İzleme Derneği-ESHID), founded in 2010, aims to ensure the equal recognition of human rights and fundamental freedoms for everyone in Turkey through monitoring, advocacy and legal support activities. ESHID’s areas of work focus on election observation, access to justice, freedom of assembly, discrimination based on race, ethnicity, disability, religion or belief and the protection and support for human rights defenders.
ESHID, in cooperation with HURIDOCS (Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems) will launch a new Action by January 2023, “Promoting ESC Rights of Disadvantaged Groups in Turkey through Monitoring and Advocacy Partnerships”, which aims to provide key stakeholders working on human rights with knowledge, skills, tools and partnerships to strengthen their technical and operational capacities to monitor and advocate for the improvement of economic, social and cultural rights of disadvantaged groups in Turkey. The Action is financed by the European Union for a duration of 36 months.
The Communication and Project Officer will be working in full cooperation with the local Project Coordinator and the International Project Team in ensuring the full implementation of the Action activities and in disseminating and communicating the outputs and results of the Action. S/he is expected to establish good working relations with key stakeholders working on human rights, partners, donors and public institutions. S/he may be required to travel within Turkey and abroad.
Key activities
- Support the management and implementation of the Action on a daily basis, ensuring that the objectives are delivered within budget;
- Contribute to the communication and dissemination of the outputs and results of the Action; support the communication and advocacy campaigns and activities online and offline in the field of ESC rights
- Coordinate with and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners; hold regular meetings and work closely with key stakeholders;
- Organize and contribute to trainings, workshops, meetings and events; design and draft meeting agendas and participant lists; provide administrative support, if necessary;
- Draft activity reports; assist to the monitoring and evaluation of the Action;
- Manage and coordinate translation and publication related activities of the Action;
- Develop and edit digital newsletters;
- Manage social media accounts; update web page and create its content based on the activities of the Action.
Required Experience and Competencies
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in the field of human rights and strong knowledge of human rights issues in Turkey;
- Good knowledge and understanding of civil society in Turkey;
- Proven experience in project management;
- Excellent knowledge of Turkish (mother tongue level)
- Fluency in English
- Good drafting skills both in Turkish and English
- Competency in ICT skills
- Experience in managing social media accounts and developing communication and dissemination campaigns;
- Experience in updating a web page and content creation.

- Ability and willingness to take initiative
- The position is full-time and based in Ankara.
