AYHED published the report of its field research conducted by interviewing local journalists, reporters, news and internet channel representatives in 12 provinces under the title "Journalism in the Spiral of Violence". The study analyzed different forms of law enforcement violence as well as "internal rights violations" such as unregistered employment, mobbing, flexible employment, low wages, difficult working conditions, editorial pressure or censorship.
While the issue of gender was emphasized through women journalists and the women refugees and migrants they cover, the rights violations that journalists are exposed to due to the environmental problems they cover on a local scale were also discussed.
Lawyer İlhan Öngör and Lawyer Serhat Ökmen examined the criminal, administrative and legal sanctions that local reporters face while carrying out their professional activities, and the judicial and legal processes that have ended or are still ongoing. The results of the review were published under the title "Case Review Report on Local Journalism in the Context of Human Rights Law".
You can access both studies in the attached files.
A documentary titled "Behind the News" was also prepared as part of the study.
