Solidarity Between Generations Is Important To Overcome The Epidemic

While we’re fighting with the coronavirus pandemic, we’re also continuing to talk about the epidemic. We talked with Dr. Gulustu Salur who is Chairwoman of the 65+ Elderly Rights Association regarding the measures taken for older people in the high-risk group.

In her speech, Salur emphasized the importance of standing together in this process and the measures taken were valid for everyone. Regarding the curfew implemented by the Ministry of the Interior, she said: “We will stay at home altogether or it will not be efficient if only older people stay at home.”

She also added  “We should immediately implement the systems that support older people while they’re at home and make their process easier.”

Salur stated that intergenerational solidarity is important to cope with the epidemic. Also, she added that it’s necessary to spread the Internet technologies which facilitate life at home while fighting with the COVID-19 pandemic, among the elder people.
